Black Bear Diner

You'd think that if you order a Reuben sandwich the meat would be a nice, fresh reddish Corned Beef. Not here. You get served a pile of dark brown meat that looks like it old and probably spoiled. Took one bite of the tough meat and said yuk. What a waste of my time and money. Not likely I'll be visiting Black Bear Dinner anytime soon, and will never order a Reuben there ever again. I've got pics of the nasty meat if anyone is interested.

It was pretty good. I would recommend the changing the menu from newspaper to something else.I understand that you're trying to keep the old school vibe. But for newcomers it was kinda confusing. Spent 20 minutes sitting there waiting for menu and not realizing the newspaper was the menu

Our breakfast came to our table cold, some burnt and some of it under cooked. I have NEVER had this happen and I have been going there since the day they opened, in Federal Way, WA. I talked to the general manager, who was very nice. She had her lead cook re-cook our meal. It turned out phenomenal!!! A great BIG shout out to the lead cook...Thank you for the great breakfast!!! She, the lead cook, is the BEST!!! Always have loved going to eat there..big portions and reasonable prices served with a friendly smile. We will continue going there. 😎

We eat here occasionally. I was really craving their sweet cream pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream. I'm happy to admit that my craving was more than fulfilled!! They have a decent menu of food items and their portions are usually more than one could eat in one sitting. I always leave with happy taste buds after dining at Black Bear Diner. Kudos to the kitchen staff!!

The food was huge portions and I love how big their stuff teddy bears are on display! Our waitress was attentive 👌🏻 my steak and eggs came out perfect I loved it!!! Will be back soon again !! They got alot of desserts and bunch of teddy bear souvenirs 🔥

My family loves this place, & come often. The environment is warm, welcoming, & whimsical. The food is wonderful with a very wide selection, & the staff ensure both good service, & a great time. Love it!

The wait area stinks, but you shouldn't be waiting long. The place was packed on our visit and we were only like ten minutes (told 15 to 20). Our server was with us moments after we were seated and seemed polite and pleasant (not bothered by the rush at all). All parties seemed happy with their food, but they did land it at two separate times. It's a little odd when half your party had their food and half is waiting. Unless you don't care about eating in front of people waiting. Once everyone was served, we all were pretty satisfied. Our server did check on us more than once, filling drinks/waters and making sure we were taken care of. Restroom was pretty typical, but when there's paper, towels, soap, hot water and their attempting to keep it clean I'm apt to be happy.

Place was in disrepair. Food overpriced for what we got. They said two eggs for breakfast what we got was less than one egg normal. I was told when asked that they are weighing their eggs now and that's all I get. For an extra dollar and a quarter I could have another egg. Until I hear further back I will be darn if I go back. I personally think food mediocre at best and I'm being generous. Have a good day!

My husband and I visited this location while on vacation from AZ. We had side salads, Ruben sandwich and tri-tip dip sandwich with fries. OMG the food was excellent! The portions are large enough for two people so you may want to share. The server was very friendly and helpful. I can't wait to go back!

Reason for 3 🌟 rather than more is because while this diner is really popular and has a super home style menu with tons of great food choices with top notch and attentive wait staff the interior seating and wait area remains worn and uncomfortable. If the hard seats don't bother you then do enjoy the food w/lots of traditional breakfast items w/BIG portions (or lighter portions also available) and eggs made the way YOU like. The bear theme remains a cute association with this and other BB Diner locations even on other states.

This place is a local gem and a family favorite place to be. The food is tasty with generous portions. The vibes are warm, welcoming, and take you back to a simpler time before the era of technology. The customer service is great and the restaurant and bathrooms are kept tidy.Overall recommendation: 9/10

First time there today and our experience was horrible. The male server wasn't every nice, our food came out really cold, soggy and over cooked. Never once was apologetic, never came to check on us, and he even lied to my face when I had requested for a straw. The server stated that the restaurant doesn't have them and that they don't use it. As we were waiting for our food, I noticed other customers having straws. So I called on another server to meet that request. Why he lied is beyond me. We didn't eat our food and yet we ended up paying full price for food that that was horrible. I'll never go back there again. Horrible service, horrible food.

My husband and I love going here once in awhile. It's a little far of a drive for us so it's a nice treat! Their plates of food are HUGE and actually very reasonably priced considering the fact. I always get the Cinnamon Roll French Toast Combo which is a Cinnamon Roll cut into three thick pieces covered in icing, fresh fruit, eggs, hash browns, and bacon or sausage and it costs about $17 I believe. Just the Cinnamon Roll French Toast and fresh fruit is about $12 and that is filling! Their bisquits are made fresh and are literally almost 6 inches tall! They have fresh squeezed orange juice and multiple mini homemade pies. The only downfall I would say is that on the weekends it is so popular that there is a bit of a wait. The longest we've waited is about 20-25 minutes. Of course it depends on how many people you have with you, not sure if more or less is better. Not sure if you can make reservations or not since we've never tried. Either way...completely WORTH THE WAIT!!!

Pretty good. Large portions. Tastes like they use high quality ingredients. Utterly giant biscuits. One of our orders came out wrong, but they brought a new, correct one out quickly.

Great food with huge portions! The "Little Less" breakfast section of the menu was perfect! 30 min wait for a table for 6 on a busy Sunday morning was very reasonable. For some reason the bathrooms are freezing, just be ready. :)

Family restaurant.. clean, friendly and not expensive! The chef soup bring me memories from my vacations in Brazil..

Where do I start? The service was out of this world. By far one of the best servers I've seen in years. The food was absolutely delicious. If I could eat it again I would. If I stop in Auburn again I'll be sure to stop in again.

I was so impressed by the service, quality of food and the portion size and price. It's ranks right up top with my favorite diner, especially for breakfast. I'll definitely bring my good friends for breakfast.

Good solid food. Come hungry...the portions are big. The biscuits were huge & the flavor reminded me of ones my Mom made when I was a kid. Service was good too. There appears to be a wait most of the time...be patient, it's worth it.

I came with my fiance and was seated quickly, we were there for breakfast. The place had a lot of people in it yet we didn't feel crowded. It took a few minutes for our server to come but that's fine for me. Our food was good, they serve really big portions which is excellent! The hash browns were a bit bland but that's ok, specially for people who don't want a sodium overload like myself. I simply added salt and pepper and I was satisfied. My omelette (the all meat one) was tasty and cooked great. My fiance had a scramble and she was in love with it, couldn't finish but made for a nice meal later. If I were to give one flaw, it would be that the servers should come back more often for coffee/drink refills. Overall I enjoyed my experience and will return.

Best service today from Joslyn. She was friendly and fast. Both our foods were cold but she took it back and she said the cooks weren’t upset. The food quality was just okay today and the timing was bad but I know it could be better based off past visits but the customer service was so great I overlooked the other issues. I don’t give compliments often so it was impressive. Thanks for being awesome Joslyn

Ordered take out, after a long day we looked forward to an amazing Blackbear dinner. We ordered at 7:15 pm, 45 minutes before closing. Given the limited menu, we ordered the Bigfoot Chicken Fried Steak & turkey dinner. This is what we got... wilted lettuce & onion salad, no gravy on chix fried steak, hard cold fries, broccoli (ordered beans)... super dry & flaky slabs of cold turkey, gravy chunks, and broccoli (ordered steamed vegies). We also got pie, which is always good, & we didn't have to pay for. Given the COVID-19 situation effecting servers/cooks/maint. I always tip well. However, there is NO EXCUSE FOR MEDIOCRITY. Just saying 😒

2 stars is being generous! Restaurant was not busy, was greeted quickly. When our breakfast order came, the onions & peppers were burned, our toast was barely warm bread, the order of eggs over medium, were burned on the edges and raw in the middle. Were sent back for a new order....these were a bit better.Not sure of a "new cook" or just not paying attention to the grill or ? While paying bill, I was asked how our breakfast was.....I asked, "do you want the truth, or what you want to hear"? She said the truth, so I told her. Said she would inform her manager.We have noticed the quality has diminished over the past couple of years.Sorry Black Bear....you were a "go to" place for a great meal....but something has happened!Not sure if we will be back to see if it has improved. Hopefully, others will have a better experience.

We have been doing the stay at home thing, but decided to order out for a pick-up and man my families tummies were happy! And we didn’t have to cook😁 Thank you we will call again soon YUMMY!

Visited 2x while in Washington. Giant portions of super tasty food. Breakfast and dinner all done perfect. Great for families and friends. Will miss this now that we are back home.

I've never been here today was my first and honestly the last this place is awful. My hash browns were burnt and very greasy and the pancakes weren't cooked fully. top it off the women working here thought I was going to just dine and dash like I'm not a dishonest person I'll always pay for my meals anyways. I do not recommend anyone to eat her .
